June Bug

Hello Walls - Had to get a blog in before the month of June was up. It's been awhile and much has happened since my last blog. (Sounds like confession: "Bless me blog for I have sinned. It has been a month since my last blog.")
I have been pretty busy. Had my NYC release party for Lazyeye, which was a big success. First time the band had all played in the same room at the same time and they pulled it off amazingly well, making me and the songs sound great. Chip Taylor came - songwriter of such perennials as Wild Thing and Angel Of The Morning (also a professional gambler and Angelina Jolie's uncle). Also in the house were my good friends and supporters Rosanne Cash and John Leventhal, neither of whom had ever seen me play live in the seven years I've known them. PLUS Patterson Hood of the great southern rock band Drive-By Truckers was there. They all gave me props afterward and that felt really good. Most important, though, a bunch of friends turned out, many of whom I'd not seen much or at all since moving out of NYC. They came to stand up and be counted and that warmed my heart.

So tomorrow it all happens again here in Woodstock, at the Colony Cafe. I spent today talking on local radio stations WKZE and WDST, playing acoustically and promoting Lazyeye and the show. I'm optimistic about tomorrow.

Meanwhile, my son Jack graduated from kindergarten and I just about bawled. Summer is upon us. I am newly unemployed too, laid off from my child-wrangler position at School Of The New Moon. So there may be more blogs in the next couple months.

See ya 'round the pickle barrel!
RBW
