Welcome to the machine

Hello walls -

This is my first blog post. MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR THIS AUSPICIOUS EVENT. As part of my newly revamped site, this blog will be everything from a screed to a journal to digital writing on the bathroom wall. What can be said about today, about right now, about this waning May afternoon in Phoenicia, New York? Well - my wife and 6 year old son Jack are out at yard sales and the grocery store. I've just wasted about an hour on the phone with tech service reps from Roadrunner and AOL (I'll spare you the details) and I'm looking out an open window, through a rusty screen at yellow late-day sunlight moving slowly across maples, oaks, and firs, listening to the distinctive sounds of cars coming down the road, trying to guess from the rhythm of the wheels on the blacktop which one will be my little family and wondering what we will be eating when they get here. That's this moment. Of course a bazillion other things are clattering around in the background but I will leave those to fester for now and if they seem at all interesting I'll write about them later.
